Search for Government Offices/Units with Innovations and Best Practices in Internal Auditing

The awarding ceremony for the Search for Government Offices/Units with Innovations and Best Practices in Internal Auditing was one of the highlights of the 5th Forum for Heads of Internal Audit Offices/Units in the Public Sector, held at the Diamond Hotel, Manila on August 16, 2019. The Search, conducted every two (2) years, primarily aims to encourage government offices to establish or to strengthen their internal audit units, and to recognize outstanding and exemplary contributions in the practice of internal auditing in the public sector.

The Search Committee evaluated all submissions based on relevance and significance in internal auditing, contribution to agency operations, and sustainability.

Awarded during the event are the following sectoral winners who were given a Plaque of Recognition and a cash prize of P15,000:

DSWD representatives, Natividad V. Canlas, OIC Director, and Marissa Fabricante, Internal Auditor V, receiving their Plaque of Recognition and P15,000 cash, as winner in the NGA sector. Participating agencies who were given Certificates of Appreciation include the  Armed Forces of the Philippines,  the City Government of Cebu, the Local Government of Itogon, Benguet, Southern Philippines Medical Center; Tacloban City Government, and the Tarlac State University.

This year’s Search Committee is Chaired by Dir. Dinah E. Pichay, Vice-Chairpersons Dir. Ma. Teresa C. Alvarez (Best Practice), Dir. Anthony A. Lewis (Logo), Dir. Melba S. Asuncion (Hymn), and Members, Dir. Ricardo C. Rigo, Dir. Hideliz Marie A. Laranang, Dir. Edelwina D. Carreon, and Dir. Crisostomo C. Paras, Jr.

AGIA Logo Design Contest

The AGIA logo-making and hymn-writing contests were launched this 2019, it marking a milestone year for the association, and borne out of the need to keep up with the changing times.

Throughout its 60 years of existence, the AGIA had been through two logo changes, the last one in 2004. While the previous logos had stood the test of time, a logo refresh, was seen to convey a positive impression of growth, an AGIA evolving and changing, while being up-to-date with modern design trends. A refreshed logo further creates an image of willingness to change, without losing sight of our core values and building on our strengths.

The winning logo was designed by Mr. Mark Anthony K. Virtus, of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA). He was awarded with a Plaque of Recognition and a cash prize of P20,000.

AGIA Hymn Writing Contest

The adoption of an AGIA Hymn has long been overdue. After 60 years of existence, a search for an AGIA Hymn was conceptualized to find a song that AGIA members will hold in common, and will give voice to shared principles in the internal auditing profession.

The winning entry, HIMNO NG AGIA, was composed by Mr. Richard D. Samulde, a teacher from the Department of Education - Sto. Niño National High School in South Cotabato. Mr. Samulde was awarded a Plaque of Recognition and a cash prize of P20,000.00.

Henceforth, this Hymn that embodies AGIA’s ideals and core values is adopted.

The Association, thru its Membership Committee, is in the process of updating its membership database for accurate accounting and effective monitoring of active members. This is also in connection with the upcoming election of AGIA Board of Directors wherein only active members with good standing (regular and associate) have the right to vote and may be elected as member of the Board of Directors.
